Two dead after crash on thruway caused car to split in half

Two people are dead after a four-car crash Friday night on the thruway, just West of Albany.

State Police say that a Volkswagon driven by Tyler Pascuzzi, 24, was speeding when it struck a Honda Civic driven by Brian Miller, 29. Miller then lost control of his car and struck the center divider before coming to a rest.

Police say the Volkswagon proceeded to spin and struck a tractor trailer causing the two passengers

to be thrown from the car and the car to break in half.

      The two passengers, identified as

      Cody Veverka

      , 23,

      and

      Alicia Tamboia,
24, were pronounced dead at the scene. Pascuzzi and Miller were both transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Officials have not filed any charges but they are continuing to investigate the incident.
