Two drivers were sent to Upstate Medical Center after a crash on Interstate 81 around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. A third driver was ticketed for an unsafe lane change that caused the crash.
State police say 35 year-old Scott Froelick was traveling in the left lane of I-81 south through the Town of Salina when he was cut off by 24 year-old Mackenze Austin.
Froelick tried to avoid Austin's car, causing his own car to cross over the median into the northbound lane. He ended up in the path of 67 year-old Russell Cooper.
Investigators say Froelick and Cooper's cars sustained major damage in the collision. The men were taken to Upstate with non life-threatening injuries.
Austin was ticketed for an unsafe lane change.
The northbound lanes were closed at Exit 26 in Mattydale Tuesday afternoon due to the accident.
