Two intentionally set fires being investigated in Syracuse

Two intentionally set fires are being investigated in Syracuse on Saturday, including at this vacant home on Rich Street.

Syracuse Firefighters have called in police investigators, after battling two intentionally set fires early Saturday morning.

The first, reported at 1:13am, was at 872 Ackerman Avenue, east of the SU campus. Investigators tell us that someone in the street ignited a gas can and threw it up on a second floor front porch of the home. Damage was minor, and all occupants got out safely.

The second fire was reported at 3:48am at 512 Rich Street, near Onondaga Park on the Syracuse south side. The back porch to a vacant and boarded up two family home was set on fire. Flames damaged all three floors of the back of the house, with heavy water damage to the rest of the building. There were no injuries at the scene.

Investigation into both arsons continues.
