Two men accused of stealing 13 firearms from Cicero business
Two men are accused of stealing 13 rifles and shotguns from a Cicero landscaping business.
Investigators say 22-year-old Nicholas Zabel and 23-year-old Daniel Springer, both of Central Square, broke into Grasshopper Landscaping on Island Road in Cicero sometime overnight between Saturday and Sunday, September 1.
On Sunday afternoon, an officer with the New York State Department of Environment Conservation Police caught up with the duo in the Oswego area. The officer found them with the rifles and shotguns.
The officer called Cicero Police suspecting the guns may have been stolen from an area business.
Police interviewed the owner of the landscaping business and found an unlocked window in the back of the shop and verified that someone had broken into the office area and stole approximately 13 rifles and shotguns.
Zabel and Springer were arrested and charged with burglary and grand larceny. They were sent to the Onondaga County Jail on $20,000 bail each.
All of the stolen items were recovered.
