Two men arrested in Owasco church burglary

Two Auburn men are facing charges in a burglary this summer at a local church.

20-year-old Daniel Edersheim and 21-year-old David Calkins are accused of breaking into the Sacred Heart Church on Melrose Road in the Town of Owasco on August 31.

A tip lead detectives to the two men. Deputies were able to recover two gold ciboria. One was severely damaged, the other was not damaged. Deputies say both were found in Calkins TM possession.

Edersheim, of 54 Adams Avenue, is charged with burglary and petit larceny. Calkins, of 83 Havens Avenue, is charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property. Both were arraigned in Owasco Town Court and sent to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
