Two men eluded capture after police chase in Geneva

Authorities say they've called off the search for two men who have eluded capture since one of their companions was shot by police after a chase in western New York last weekend.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlet that the two men, both in their 20s and from Geneva, are believed to have left the area.

They were with two other men in a pickup truck that police began pursuing after reports of gunfire in Geneva Sunday afternoon. The truck crashed on Route 96 in the neighboring town of Phelps and the four men fled on foot.

Officials say one of the men was wounded in the arm after he aimed a gun at officers. A second man later surrendered to police.

Both have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
