Two Syracuse teens charged with burglarizing home on Hancock Drive

Two Syracuse teens were charged after allegedly burglarizing a home and running from police Monday night.

Syracuse Police say they were called to the 200 block of Hancock Drive around 8:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a two men attempting to break into a residence.

Police say they located the suspects running from the area. One suspect was caught nearby after a short chase. The second suspect was caught by a police canine after he ran from officers and refused police commands to stop.

The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Avion Collins and a 16-year-old male, both from Syracuse.

Police say Collins has stolen items in his possession when he was caught.

Both teens were charged with felony burglary and felony grand larceny. Collins was also charged with felony of criminal possession of stolen property.

The 16-year-old was provided medical treatment as a precaution before the teens were lodged at the Justice Center.

They were both scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Syracuse City Criminal Court.
