Two teenagers were arrested for a street robbery in Syracuse.

According to the Syracuse Police Department, police were called to a reported robbery complaint on the 900 block of James Street just before 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

When they arrived, police say the 20-year-old victim told them he was walking on the 700 block of Lodi Street around 5:30 p.m. when he was approached by a 15-year-old girl who asked to use his cell phone. When the man refused, she blocked his path with her bicycle and 17-year-old Dayshawn Brown, of Syracuse, then approached the victim from behind, demanding the phone.

The suspects stole the phone from the victim after a short struggle and ran off down Lodi Street.

Police say after searching the area, they found the Brown and the 15-year-old girl on the 600 block of Winston Street.

Both were arrested and charged with felony robbery. The 15-year-old suspect was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

Brown was detained in the Justice Center and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in Syracuse City Criminal Court. The 15-year-old suspect was detained at Hillbrook Detention Facility and will be arraigned in Family Court at a later date.
