Two women and a 4-year-old injured in serious car crash in Mattydale

Tue, 27 Mar 2012 16:39:46 GMT — Route 11 near the Interstate 90 overpass in Mattydale was closed Tuesday for about two hours after a serious crash.The Onondaga County Sherriffâ??s Department says the crash left three people hospitalized; two women and a 4-year-old child.Witnesses told police that 29-year-old Bethany Spier was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry southbound on Route 11 when she crossed the center line and hit 33-year-old Christine Whitney-Kemz, driving a 2007 PT Cruiser, nearly head on. Deputies say Spier and her 4-year-old daughter both suffered non-life threatening injuries. Whitney-Kemz also suffered non-life threatening injuries. All three were taken to by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 11 and Edgemere Road, just north of Factory Avenue.The Department of Transportation reported that Route 11 was closed due to the accident from about 11:00 am to 1:00pm. Deputies say that tickets may be issued pending the outcome of their investigation.
