The State Labor Department has released area unemployment rates, and Central New York appears to be trending in a positive direction.
The report, which lists metropolitan areas and non-metro counties, has Syracuse at 6.1 percent, which is down from 7.4 percent last year.
Utica-Rome is listed as 6.2 percent, down from 7.7 percent last year. Non-metro counties came in at 6.4 percent, down from 7.8 percent.
The survey showed that private sector jobs increased by more than 106,000 across the state.
