Syracuse police have released the identity of the man killed on Highland Street in Syracuse on Sunday morning.
Police say Angelo Jenkins, 49, of 1041 Highland Street, was shot and killed shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Police also discovered a 28-year-old woman who suffered a gun shot wound on the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded and is expected to survive.
Police believe the homicide was not random, and that the victim was targeted. They also say both Jenkins and his residence at 1041 Highland Street have had run-ins with the police in the past.
"The house at 1041 Highland Street has been the focal point of some police activity in the past, but we don't know what the motive or the causes of this shooting are," Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan says. "As far as the victims, Mr. Jenkins, he has had some past police interaction also."
Police are looking for witnesses, and ask that if anyone knows anything about the incident on Highland Street this morning to contact them immediately at 442-5222.
