Utica man faces charges for exposing himself in mall parking lot

A Utica man faces charges after he allegedly exposed himself in the parking lot of the Sangertown Square Mall.

New Hartford Police got a call on the morning of May 5th for an unknown disturbance in the parking lot.

When they got there, mall security reported that 58-year-old Richard Gratch was sitting in his vehicle while exposing himself and committing a lewd act.

During the investigation, police found that he would regularly drive to Sangertown Square and watch women walk by while committing a lewd act.

He was also found with a small amount of marijuana in his car.

Gratch was taken into custody and brought to the New Hartford Police Department where he was charged with Public Lewdness, a misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation.

He was released with an appearance ticket and will have to return to court at a later date to answer to the charges.
