Utica police officer hit in head with frying pan while responding to call

A Utica man is facing charges after police say he hit a police officer with a frying pan.

Julius Brown, 53, is now charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Tuesday morning, police say the Utica officer responded to a home on Schuyler Street for an argument. The officer walked into the area where Brown was yelling and called for him to step into the kitchen. When the officer went to check on him after he kept screaming, police say he appeared behind the door and hit the officer in the head with a frying pan.

Even though the offer was dazed, she was able to stop Brown from hitting her again and take him into custody.
