Utica rap battle ends with shots fired, a thrown rock, a Taser and twins arrested

A rap battle in Utica ended with shots being fired and a rock being thrown at a person, accoriding to Utica Police Investigators.

Police were called to the area of Wagner and Schuyler Streets at about 11:06 pm Saturday for reports of a large fight and possible shots fired. Officers were told that a man named â??Nadarevicâ?? had fired the shots and then ran from the scene.

Officers found out that there was a rap battle at the scene.20-year-old Sanel Nadarevic reportedly became angry during the battle and fired a gun three times into the air.

The car Nadarevic was riding in was pulled over by officers on Plant Street. Nadarevic ran from the car, but was tackled after a short foot chase by an officer, investigators say. The pursuing officer reported hearing something hard hit the ground when he was taking Nadarevic down, which turned out to be a .22 caliber handgun.

While on Plant Street, Sanel Nadarevicâ??s twin brother, 20-year-old Salmin, threatened to shoot the child of another person on the scene, according to police. Officers say Salmin then picked up a rock and threw it at the person, hitting him in the head. Salmin then reportedly tried to hit the man with a bottle of Corona, but was subdued by a police Taser. The man who was hit with the rock ran from the scene.

Sanel Nadarevic was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say more charges could be brought against the Nadarevic twins in the near future.
