Utica teen threatened with knife near Proctor Park

A Utica man is charged after police say he threatened a teenager with a knife on Sunday.

At about 7:30 pm, Utica Police Officers were called to Proctor Park for a menacing call. The 13-year-old victim told officers that he was with his friends in the park when several men took their bicycles. The teens chased the men, and eventually got their bikes back.

The teen was riding home when he noticed one of the suspects was chasing after him, waving something in the air. The child stopped and was threatened with a knife, police say. The victim fled and called police.

Officers spotted 20-year-old Victor Martinez leaving some nearby woods and arrested him.

Martinez is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
