Vernon Center man injured in motorcycle crash

Authorities are investigating a motorcycle crash that seriously injured a Vernon Center man after 9 pm Tuesday.

The crash happened in Westmoreland when John C. Havener, Jr. was riding his motorcycle and crashed into a guard rail at the intersection of Deans Highway and State Route 5.

He was freed from under the motorcycle by the Westmoreland Fire Department and was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital by Central Oneida County Ambulance.

He was then transported to a Syracuse hospital for treatment.

Havener suffered serious injuries to his right arm, right leg and pelvic area.

His condition is not known as this time.
