Vernon man accused of door-to-door neighborhood scam

Thomas Chamberlain

An Oneida County man is accused of going door-to-door, trying to trick people into giving him money.

New York State Police arrested 33-year-old Thomas Chamberlain of Vernon Wednesday.

He faces one count of scheming to defraud. Troopers say he approached people he knew, and went to their homes to falsely portray himself to obtain money.

If you recognize him, and think you may have been a victim of Chamberlain's scheme, you're encouraged to call State Police at (315) 736-8802.

Chamberlain was released, and is due in Rome City Court Thursday morning.
