Vice President Biden speaks on education in Rochester

Recalling his days as an upstate New York college student, Vice President Joe Biden says it seemed back then that companies like Kodak, Bausch and Lomb and Xerox would go strong forever.

But at a community college campus Wednesday, he said times and jobs have changed, and pushed for educational programs that train students for today's higher tech jobs.

Biden visited Monroe Community College with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, a community college professor, along with State University Chancellor Nancy Zimpher and Education Commissioner John King Jr.

Before the speech, the Bidens toured a precision machine shop on campus.

Biden also touched on some themes from President Barack Obama's State of the Union address, endorsing raising the minimum wage, paying women equal to men, and funding pre-kindergarten programs.
