MANCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - State Police have identified the victims of Monday's deadly crash on the NYS Thruway.

Amir, 9, and Shamel, 11, Middleton died at the scene of the crash. The brothers were from Buffalo.

The driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Sean Ferguson of Buffalo, remains in critical condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. A passenger in the SUV and mother of the two children, 34-year-old Shenaya Washington of Buffalo, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to State Police, the crash happened on Interstate 90 westbound at around 5:45 a.m. Monday. When troopers arrived at the scene, a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder was on its side in the right lane. Four people from Buffalo were involved in the crash, according to police.

Investigators say the SUV appears to have hit a guiderail, overcorrected back into the road, and then rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop.

The two brothers were ejected from the SUV, troopers said. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither of the boys were wearing seatbelts at the time, according to investigators. The parents were each taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
