Village of Bridgewater votes to dissolve into surrounding town

The Village of Bridgewater has voted to dissolve the village into the surrounding Town of Bridgewater. The village voted Tuesday night 40 to 8 in favor of the dissolution.

This dissolution will save money. The population of the village is about 470 people. Leaders in the area say the cost of running the village in unsustainable.

The village has had a hard time finding people to run for public office.

These instances of consolidation are part of what Governor Cuomo pushed for in his speech about property tax relief on Tuesday.
