Volunteer firefighter accused of stealing money from department where he kept the books

A Chenango County fireman is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the department where he volunteered and served as treasurer.

On Wednesday, State Police arrested 25-year-old Andrew Cushman, of Plymouth. Cushman was a member of the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department, and kept the books. He is charged with grand larceny, accused of stealing $10,000 from the department's bank accounts.

Cushman was arraigned and released without bail required.

The fire department is on Route 23, just north of Norwich.
