Voters deciding fate of $24M expansion project for West Genesee School District

Taxpayers vote on West Genesee school renovation plan

Voters will decide the fate of a $24 million expansion and renovation project for the West Genesee School District on Tuesday.

Property taxes would rise slightly, with those owning a $100,000 home expecting to pay $5.19 more. Most of the project will be paid for in state aid with only 17.51% being paid for locally.

The project includes a new cafeteria at the Onondaga Road Elementary School. Both elementary schools will see new library construction. Several renovations are included such as a new gymnasium roof at the high school, masonry repairs, and weatherization.

All the schools will see mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades including air conditioning and boiler replacements. Site work such as paving and drainage is also included in the renovation work.

Polls close at 9:00 p.m.
