A major water main break at the Humane Association of Central New York is leaving the center closed today, and could remain closed for the rest of the week.
The ceiling of the building collapsed and the furnace has stopped working. The Humane Association, located on Taft Road, says its accepting monetary donations, and are in need of litter.
"This is a difficult time of year for shelters, and the loss of all our litter and furnace are simply devastating, especially the furnace with the outside temperatures below zero. We would be greatly appreciated any help offered," noted Christine McNeely, Shelter Director.
The association is privately funded, and houses between 200 and 400 animals at any given time.
