A Watertown teen was arraigned Wednesday on charges related to a fatal crash in Ellisburg last September.
Gaige W. Knapp, 19, was arraigned in the Town of Ellisburg for criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, and unreasonable speed following an investigation into a
crash that killed the passenger in his car.
Police say Knapp and 17-year-old Trevor Robinson, of Adams, were driving on State Route 289 when the car exited the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled over several times before coming to rest on the roof of the vehicle.
Knapp, who was driving at the time, was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for treatment. Robinson died at the scene.
Knapp was released following arraignment and the case is pending grand jury action.
In 2010, Knapp was accused of having sexual contact with two girls, ages 12 and 13, in unrelated incidents. The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says the case is sealed and they can not reveal how it was resolved.
