Wegmans looks to expand into Boston

Wegmans is expanding its brand into Boston.

The city's mayor Thomas Menino says the grocery store chain plans to open a supermarket in Boston's Fenway neighborhood.

According to the Boston Globe the expansion will pit Wegmans against the popular Whole Foods chain.

The store will be Wegmans' second in Massachusetts. It opened its first store in Northborough in 2011.

Wegmans is based in Rochester and has numerous stores in Central New York.
