The third auction at the West Genesee Methodist Church was for the building itself, and it's now sold.
The final price, $102,100. A Syracuse resident is the buyer, but he did not want to comment, after the Saturday morning auction, on his development plans. If it's a commercial development, the land will go back on Syracuse property tax rolls.
Four separate bidders were at Saturday morning's auction, none of them representing churches.
The church and all its contents were liquidated, after the congregation decided that the big, red building on West Genesee at the Syracuse-Solvay line no longer met its needs.
It's the first sale of a major property on the West Genesee Corridor in decades.
