Western New York man charged in connection with killing his mother

A western New York man has been charged in connection with the death of his mother, whose body was found in the woods this fall.

Rochester media outlets report that Daniel Burkwit of Huron in Wayne County was arrested Sunday on a charge of second-degree manslaughter. He is accused of causing the death of his mother, 75-year-old Marcia Burkwit, during a fight in October at their home.

Her body was found in nearby woods, wrapped in a blanket and covered with leaves.

Burkwit was being held at the county jail without bail.

It could not immediately be determined if he had a lawyer.
