Firefighters battled a blaze at the Gary Spaven and Sons building on Route 5 in Westmoreland early Thursday morning.
Westmoreland fire crews were called to the scene at about 6:30 am when they were alerted by an automatic fire alarm that was installed in the building.
Officials tell us the building was empty at the time of the fire, and there were no reported injuries. It took one to two hours to knock the flames down.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The owner of the business tells CNY Central photojournalist Tom Cunningham that they will temporarily relocate their operations as the building is rebuilt. They say the offices will remain at the current location on Route 5.
The fire forced the closure of Route 5 between Skyline Drive and Route 233 Thursday morning.
