Wet weather today. Specifics about this, the rest of the week & the holiday weekend here.
Good morning! Here is what you need to know before you go.
After a beautiful day yesterday, rain is moving into CNY during the pre-dawn, sunrise and early morning hours of today. This is right on schedule from what we had discussed yesterday. Expect occasional rain through the course of the morning. Some of the rain is heavy, some of it is light. An isolated lightning bolt and thunder has been noted with some of this activity. You can track thunderstorms with the Interactive Doppler Radar & Live Triple Doppler Radar. Temperatures will mainly be between 55 and 60 throughout the morning.
For the afternoon, expect cloud cover with some dry periods and perhaps a break of sunshine. A new broken line of scattered showers or a thundershower will be possible over sections of CNY. Numbers will only slowly rise into the 60s through the course of the afternoon for Syracuse. However, there will be a wide range of afternoon high temperatures with cooler numbers across the North Country and warmer numbers for the Finger Lakes region.
I have attached a video forecast showing an hour-by-hour progression of today’s weather place-by-place across central New York that will show the difference in high temperatures today.
Lingering showers this evening will tape to just overcast skies with leftover areas of fog and mist. It appears that we should have a slow start in the sky department with fog, clouds and a risk for mist. With a strong May sunshine, expect these clouds and fog to break to mainly sunny skies by late in the morning or midday.
Plenty of sunshine is on tap for Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. There is some uncertainty for the exact forecast for the holiday weekend. I have attached another web story describing our next big change on the way.
