White House confirms President Obama will visit Henninger High School on Thursday

The White House has confirmed that President Barack Obama will visit Henninger High School in Syracuse on Thursday.

Multiple sources confirmed to CNY Central on Thursday that the president plans to visit Henninger High School.

The visit is part of a 2-day bus tour next week where the president will lay out his plan for reducing college costs and improving the value of higher education.

A White House official says the president will speak at Henninger High School, the University at Buffalo and the State University of New York on Thursday.

On Friday, the president is scheduled to participate in a town hall event at Binghamton University and the State University of New York. He will also speak at Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

A White House official says the president will "discuss the importance of ensuring that every American has the opportunity to achieve a quality education by reducing cost and improving the value of higher education for middle-class students and their families."

The White House has not said who will be invited to see the president or if tickets will be made available.

Superintendent Sharon L. Contreras said, "It is a tremendous honor that the President of the United States has included the Syracuse City School District on his bus tour through New York and Pennsylvania. We are both proud and humbled that Henninger High School will be one of the sites at which President Obama will discuss the importance of ensuring that every American has the opportunity to achieve a quality education by reducing cost and improving the value of higher education for middle-class students and their families. The Syracuse City School District is committed to making sure that every student receives a high quality education that prepares them for success in college and career, allowing them to live the American dream.??
