A Whitesboro woman is arrested by the New Hartford Police Department after a larceny complaint at the New Hartford Walmart.
Police were called to the Walmart at around 10 pm Thursday night by store security after a woman was seen stealing merchandise.
The investigation revealed that the woman entered the store, selected some DVD's, then went to another area of the store where she attached bar codes from a previous purchase onto the DVD's. She then went to the self checkout area of the store and scanned the DVD's, which rang up at a lower price than what the items were marked for.
She was also seen scanning other items of store merchandise into the register with a price tag she had hidden in her hand.
The store lost over $100.
The woman, 44-year-old Kimberlei Treen, was taken into custody at the Walmart and charged with Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony and one count of Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor.
She was released on an appearance ticket and will have to answer to the charges next month in town court.
