The wife of a central New York man accused of killing his son for insurance money says she left her husband because she feared she would be his next victim.
Cindy Karlsen testified Friday at a pretrial hearing for Karl Karlsen. He is charged with murder and insurance fraud in the 2008 death of his son Levi.
Cindy Karlsen testified that she began to suspect in the summer of 2011 that her husband had killed his son by knocking a truck off a jack at their Romulus home.
She told a Seneca County judge she discovered that her husband had used some proceeds from Levi's life insurance settlement to buy a policy on her.
Karlsen's lawyer says police badgered him into a false confession.
