A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the entire viewing area, except St. Lawrence county.
These Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from this evening through midday Monday, except for Herkimer county, where the advisory is in effect until Monday evening.
A Lake Effect Snow watch has been issued for Jefferson, Lewis and Oswego counties valid from Tuesday eveni ng through Thursday afternoon.
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The word "advisory" implies that while conditions may be tricky, this is NOT severe winter weather.
The Lake Effect Snow Watch is in effect for the "potential" for significant lake effect snow over the eastern Lake Ontario counties within this given time period.
We still have plentyof time to nail down specific locations for this "possible" lake effect snow event. At this time it appears the best chance for any important lake snows to drift southward into the City of Syracuse would be Wednesday Night and Thursday. Stay tuned.
