Woman convicted of conspiring to kill the father of her child in Schuyler County

An upstate New York woman has been convicted of conspiring with two men to kill the father of her daughter last year.

Local media outlets report a Schuyler County jury found 41-year-old Alice Trappler guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder and other charges for the shotgun slaying of 30-year-old Daniel Bennett in his town of Dix home in April 2012.

Among the evidence against Trappler was the testimony of 26-year-old Nathan Hand, who admitted he'd gone with 32-year-old Thomas Borden of Corning to kill Bennett.

Borden committed suicide by jumping in front of a Philadelphia commuter train as police chased him after the killing.

Hand had pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors.

Trappler faces from 25 years to life in prison when she's sentenced July 11.
