A woman was cut several times as a robber stole her purse from her in Ithaca Wednesday evening.
Police say they responded to a robbery in progress call that occurred on the 300 block of W. Seneca St., near the Department of Social Services. Officers say when they arrived, they found the female victim with a cut on her left hand and on the top of her head.
Police say the victim said she was attacked by someone holding a knife. The victim says the robber forcefully took her purse and cut her several times while doing so.
The victim was taken to Cayuga Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police found the victim's purse within a block of the robbery. Shortly after that, officers found a person matching the general description and wearing similar clothing to the attacker as described by the victim.
Police identified the suspect as Y-nasia O. Adams of Ithaca. The 19 year old woman is charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
