Woman formerly from Ilion killed in Maryland

A woman believed to be formerly from Ilion was found killed in Columbia, Maryland, on Saturday morning.

Deborah Castellano, 47, was found dead in a car in an apartment complex parking lot, according to Howard County Police. Police say she died from multiple gun shot wounds.

WKTV reports that Castellano was formerly from Ilion, in Herkimer County, and her maiden name is Massocco.

Police in Columbia say they received a 911 call reporting a woman who appeared to be injured in a car parked in the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road, Columbia, Maryland. Police arrived and found Castellano deceased in a Toyota Corolla in the parking lot.

Police say Castellano had recently moved to Maryland and was living in the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road, near where she was found.

Investigators have not yet confirmed a motive or suspects in the case.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call police at 410-313-STOP. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information in the homicide.

Columbia is about 27 miles north of Washington, D.C. and about 20 miles southeast of Baltimore.
