Woman hospitalized, car demolished in serious Syracuse crash

A woman was taken to the hospital after a serious crash in the 1100 block of South Salina Street early Tuesday evening.

Police say a 2008 Nissan was headed southbound on South Salina when it struck a utility pole before coming to rest on the sidewalk. The driver was the only occupant, she was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Upstate Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.

As police investigated, South Salina Street was closed to all traffic between Tallman Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard. As of 10:30 p.m. the road had reopened.
