Woman in Oswego River prompts police search, located safely on land in Fulton

Crews search Oswego River in Fulton

Police located a woman who had been seen in the Oswego River in Fulton on Wednesday morning.

Several witnesses reported that a person jumped into the river from the Broadway Bridge on Route 3 around 10:30 a.m.

Witnesses told police that a white female with short blonde hair then climbed out of the river near the Lock 3 marina and walk towards the downtown area. Police say a pair of pink flip-flops was found in the water near the bridge.

A NY State Police helicopter and the Oswego County Sheriffâ??s Departmentâ??s Dive Team was sent to the area in the search. Officials say the Fulton Fire Department, Menters Ambulance, the Coast Guard, and Fulton Police also searched the river.

Officials say no one was found in the river.

Around 1:30 p.m., a woman matching the description provided by witnesses was located. She told police that she had been in the river earlier.

Medical personnel responded to check the woman. She did not complain of any injuries.

Police did not say how the woman ended up in the water.
