Authorities are investigating the cause of a house fire in northern New York that killed a 45-year-old woman and injured her son and boyfriend.
Police tell the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh that the fire broke out around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday at a home in Malone, near the Canadian border in Franklin County. Officers gassing up their patrol car at a public works facility spotted the fire and raced to the scene.
They found Pam Taylor's boyfriend on the porch and then helped her 19-year-old son get out of the burning home. By the time firefighters arrived, the structure was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters weren't able to enter the house until hours later, when they found Taylor's body around mid-afternoon.
Taylor's son and boyfriend were both hospitalized. Information on their conditions hasn't been released.
