Jennifer Defio pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to several charges stemming from an incident on North Salina Street Thursday.

Defio pleaded not guilty to second degree felony vehicular assault, misdemeanor driving while ability impaired by drugs and reckless driving, along with several other traffic infractions.

Syracuse Police were called to the intersection of North Salina and East Willow Streets for a call that a woman had passed out in her car.

Responding officers saw the 37-year-old woman passed out behind the wheel of her car with the engine running and the car in gear.

An officer knocked on her window, and when she woke up she sped off, crashing into a pickup truck and then into a woman crossing the street. Four people were hurt in the crash.

Defio has a prior DWAI charge, according to prosecutors. She is currently being held without bail, and is due back in court on June 17.
