A Utica woman was arrested after police say she stole 25 bottles of perfume and seven jackets from the JC Penney in Sangertown Mall, then fought with security guards who tried to stop her.
New Hartford police responded to the JC Penney around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday on a report that a female shoplifter was fighting with store security.
Police say 35 year-old Catherine Turnage had 25 bottles of perfume hidden in a backpack and the inside of her coat. She also was carrying seven jackets she had picked up from inside of the store when she attempted to leave.
The total value of the items she tried to steal was $2,339.96.
Turnage is charged with grand larceny, a felony. She was arraigned in New Hartford Town Court and remanded to Oneida County Jail.
