Yankees all-star Bernie Williams to play national anthem at Chief's Father's Day game
The Chiefs will welcome former Yankees all-star center fielder Bernie Williams to NBT Bank Stadium on Fatherâ??s Day, Sunday, June 15. One thing many people may not know about Bernie Williams is that heâ??s also a Latin Grammy-nominated guitarist.
Williams will play the national anthem, and is scheduled to sign autographs at the stadium before and during the Chiefâ??s 2:00 PM game versus the Norfolk Tides.
â??We are so proud to be able to bring Bernie Williams to the fans of the Chiefsâ??, said general manager Jason Smorol. â??Our fans wanted more contemporary baseball stars and our first we are able to deliver is the great Bernie Williams.â??
After the game, Williams and his All-Star Band will play a concert at the Landmark Theatre at 8:00 PM.
There are several other events on June 15 at the park. Itâ??s Family Sunday, where kids 12 and under get in free and can run the bases after the game. Itâ??s also Fatherâ??s Day, and fathers and their kids are encouraged to play catch on the field after the game.
