Yankees' Derek Jeter to retire after 2014 season

Yankees legend Derek Jeter says the 2014 baseball season will be his last playing professional baseball.

In a post on his Facebook page, the shortstop says he's sure retiring at the end of next season is the right thing to do.

Jeter was plagued with injuries during the 2013 season.

In his post he thanks his fans, family and the Yankees organization. He also thanks "the Boss," George Steinbrenner.

During his time with the Yankees Jeter helped the team win the World Series, been named captain, and closed down the old Yankee Stadium and helped usher in the new one.

He says he wants to focus on his personal life, having a family and finally being able to take a summer vacation.

Jeter ends the post with his wish to help the Yankees win the World Series in 2014.
