Temperatures: 18-24° for most of central New York
Wind chills: 5-10° for most of central New York.
Sky condition & precipitation: Lake effect snow east of Lake Ontario up north. Lighter lake effect snow is also occurring south of Syracuse especially neat and south of Route 20. Check out Interactive Doppler Radar and Triple Doppler Radar.
What should I wear outside?: A winter jacket will be necessary. A hat and gloves is also a good idea. Of course, it is ultimately your decision on what you think you and your children should wear.
Any notable driving condition issues?: Near white out conditions will be likely directly east of Lake Ontario, especially into Lewis county. Lighter snow will occur near and south of the Route 20 corridor across the central and southern tier.

Afternoon ride home on the bus: Temperatures will be between 25-30°. Wind chill: 10-20°. Thickening cloud cover with light snow showers possible anywhere. Heaviest snow squalls will again occur directly east of Lake Ontario. Wind will be W 15-22 with gusts to 35 MPH. The sun will set at 4:29pm.
