Good morning! Here is a look at your forecast at the bus stop this morning:
Temperatures: 15 to 25° for most of central New York.
Wind chills: 5 to 15° for most of central New York
Sky condition & precipitation: There is a spray of flurries and light snow showers across most of upstate NY. However, some heavier snow squalls have been noted over and east of Lake Ontario and even at times over the southern tier. Check out Interactive Doppler Radar and Triple Doppler Radar.
What should I wear outside?: A winter jacket will be necessary. A hat and gloves is also a good idea. Of course, it is ultimately your decision on what you think you and your children should wear.
Any notable driving condition issues?: There are still some slick spots this morning region wide from leftover snow on area roads that have not been plowed and salted as often. In addition, a fresh coating of snow overnight may make it a little slippery. Heavier snow squalls are noted east of Lake Ontario.
Special concerns: East of Lake Ontario will have some localized heavier snow squalls.
Afternoon ride home on the bus: Temperatures will be between 26 to 32°. Wind chill: 17 to 22°. Mostly cloudy with scattered flurries or a light snow shower. Some slightly steadier snow showers will be found across the Route 20 and Route 79/206 corridors. Heaviest snow squalls will be noted east of Lake Ontario. Wind will be W 10-20 MPH. The sun will set at 4:31pm.
