      : -10 to -15° (below zero) for Syracuse metro area, -15 to -20° (below zero) most of central New York outside the city. -5 to +2° for western areas. -20 to -33° for the North Country.

      Wind chills: -15 to -30° (below zero) for most of central New York. -20 to -40° (below zero) for the North Country.

      Sky condition & precipitation

      What should I wear outside?: A winter jacket will be necessary. You should really wear a hat, mittens, scarves and dress in layers. Of course, it is ultimately your decision on what you think you and your children should wear.

      Any notable driving condition issues?: None.

      Special concerns: You can get frostbite in 30 minutes on any exposed skin when the wind chill is -20° (below zero). You can get frostbite in about 20 minutes when the wind chills is -30° (below zero). If the wind chills gets to -40° (below zero), then you can get frostbite in 10 minutes. I do not expect the wind chill to get to as low -40° in central New York.

      Afternoon ride home on the bus: Temperatures will be between 0 to 7°. Wind chill: -10 to -15° (below zero). Increasing clouds with flurries. Wind will be NNW 10-15 MPH. The sun will set at 5:04pm.
