5K thanks, supports disabled veterans
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Many braved the cold Saturday morning, all in support of the brave men and women who have served our country.
This is the fifth year for the DAV 5K that supports the Disabled American Veterans Organization. It's a run, walk and motorcycle ride to thank those who served and raise awareness for the problems ill and injured veterans face every day.
DAV is a nonprofit that helps over 1 million veterans a year.
The 5K was held at Sawyer Point, and event organizers estimated around 3,000 people took part in the race Saturday. And, around 30 percent of participants are veterans.
Closing ceremonies honored registered veterans and service members with a commemorative medal. Top fundraisers in the event were also honored.
There was also an after party that ran until 1 p.m.
If you couldn't make it to the race, you can still support the DAV. Click here to donate.
