LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling banned for life from NBA after tape of racist rant

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA, and will be fined $2.5 million, the max allowed fine.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced the punishment today after a recording of a conversation between Sterling and his girlfriend was released, where Sterling made racist comments about not wanting black people at his games.

TMZ released the audio tape Friday, and it has been a whirlwind since. The Clippers protested Sterling at their playoff game in Oakland, California on Sunday night by wearing their warm-ups inside out.

Several high-profile people have spoken out about Sterlingâ??s comments, including Michael Jordan, President Obama and Mark Cuban.

So far, 15 sponsors have dropped the Clippers.
