It is the last weekend of 2017...and the first week of the New Year promises to be busy! Take a look at some of the stories and events the CNY Central News Team is following for you:

The Resolution Run: 5 miles, starting & finishing at Spaghetti Warehouse, North Clinton St.
It starts about 10am Monday, an annual event (this year's the 4oth!) by the Syracuse Track Club
The NY Family Leave Act goes into effect New Year's Day. It will allow more workers to get time off to care for a new baby or family member
Lake Placid hosts World Cup Bobsled and Skeleton Racing, the 2nd thru the 12th. It's a run-up to the Winter Olympics.
Wednesday afternoon, Governor Cuomo delivers his State of the State, from Albany.
Syracuse's Common Council holds its organizational meeting Wednesday afternoon, with new Council President Helen Hudson presiding.
Syracuse's Downtown Committee will announce the three winners of the Windows Decorating Contest on Wed;nesday (Voting wraps up on New Year's Eve at
An information session on plans to re-do the bridge over the NYS Thruway at Whiskey Hill Rd, Wednesday 5-7pm at the Tyre Municipal Building on Wednesday evening.
Free ice skating starts Wednesday evening at Syracuse's Clinton Square Rink, 5 - 8pn Wednesdays until February 14th. Then, weather permitting on Wednesday evenings from Feb 28 to mid-March.
Disney on Ice comes to Syracuse for performances at the War Memorial until Sunday, with several performances daily.
A blood drive in hono rTaylor Fleming, a Cicero High School Senior hit and killed in 2011 by a man charged with drunk driving. Her family does the blood drive as a memorial, at Drivers Village Thursday noon-7pm.
Saturday is the public inauguration day for Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh. The ceremony, on the steps of City Hall at 10am. City Hall will have an open house after the ceremony.
Next Sunday (January 7) is the last day for Lights on the Lake and the Gingerbread Gallery at Syracuse's Erie Canal Museum.
