As the tallies of votes poured in to Republican Steve Kimatian's headquarters on North Midler Avenue, eyes were glued to the television screens. Steve Kimatian addressed his crowd filled with dozens of supporters.

Kimatian says the night is not a sad occasion for him. He also says that during his campaign he set a course that he and his supporters believed to be best for the city. Kimatian called the race for Syracuse mayor a unique experience, saying, "A very very special time in my life that I will always remember particularly because of the kind of investment you made in me, what I believed in, and what we believed in."

Upon hearing the news of the loss, Kimatian says he called Democrat Stephanie Miner and congratulated her on her win. He then walked the rom of his campaign headquarters and shook hands with all of his supporters and offered them a final thank you.
